Hi. Thanks!

I had no idea that has stopped working with Lemmy and NodeBB groups. I'll take a look at it.

      Right I only have one more bastille jail to upgrade out of eight and that's this one my instance so it will be down for a minute or two. See you on the other side. ;)

        [ RESOLVED ]

        The issue below was caused because this idiot aka me forgot to rebuild snac under FreeBSD 15.0-RELEASE so the compatibility package is not required.

        WOW ! The only jail I had a problem with was my jail. It refused to run up quoting this error ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libcrypto.so.30" not found, required by "snac"
        I found a fix which is you have to install compat14x-amd compatibility files so stuff that relies on older libs can still run.

          Right I have back online after a major outage when I upgraded from 14.3 to 15.0 . The issue was caused by a massive twat ! Yeah moi. All I got was snac starting and constant 100% disk reading from it causing snac to not run correctly. Why well I built snac from git but on FreeBSD 14.3. Took me longer than I'd like to admit to realise I needed to rebuild under FreeBSD 15.0.
          Oh well lesson learned which I'm sure I'll forget. 🙄

              Cette instance de a manifestement survécu à sa deuxième nuit dans le grand monde. Il y a des trucs qui m’échappent -- des erreurs TLS ou des instances avec lesquelles je n’arrive pas à me connecter, mais on verra bien.

                @stesnac@snac.bsd.cafe

                Hello! I love and I use it wherever I can, even in projects like . For the BSD Cafe, I'm happy with the snac instance, and it's been online for a long time, but today I would still install Mastodon as the primary instance, and I'll explain why: moderation and user management.

                Moderation, on snac, is necessarily less comprehensive than on Mastodon, and consequently, it becomes much more difficult to handle issues with it. Reports as understood on Mastodon do not exist, and as a result, the outcome might be detrimental even to other instances.

                That being said, if you have a community with a small number of users (although the number of users is relatively important, given that the largest FediMeteo instance has over 1200 cities/users) but, especially, if they are trusted, you can go with snac. If you need a more complete solution, perhaps it may not be the best solution (yet). I tried Friendica and I like it, but not enough to have a clear opinion on how it performs with larger communities.

                Mastodon, once you understand how it works, is not complicated to maintain, but, like all stacks, it needs to be fully understood to avoid problems (e.g., cleanup, etc.).

                  You don't know Snac? But you should: https://codeberg.org/grunfink/snac2
                  A simple, minimalistic and well documented instance server written in C, no database needed, totally JavaScript-free, no cookies either, not much bullshit.
                  Do you see this post? It comes from a Snac server.
                  The Fediverse is larger than you assume 😉
